Sourcebooks has announced that they are going to be releasing a new online digital bookstore to focus on romance titles. They intend on offering a curated selection of different titles for a low monthly fee. The project is going to be called discoveranewlove.com.
This new endeavor will not only focus on a select number of books to be downloaded per month on a subscription basis, but also social media elements. Consumers will also be able to talk to those authors online via comments and live chat. Dominique Raccah, the publisher of Sourcebooks, said the goal of the Web bookstore is “to provide a site for readers to discover new writers by talking to one another.” She is also looking for new ways to connect with customers while better understanding “how and why readers make their choices.”
The new project by Sourcebooks is admittingly a test to see how the market respond to this. The Books will not have DRM at first but if piracy begins to be a problem the company said they might address this issue in the future.
Discoveranewlove.com is going to be launching on April 10th 2012 and will offer a six month subscription for $9.99. This will give you one free download per month and give you discounts on 150 different books that Sourcebooks publishes.
