Yahoo wants to put the priority on the news and leverage their 300 million users to contribute content. The company wants to do battle against Flipboard and Google Now with the new Yahoo Newsroom app for for iOS and Android.
Yahoo says their “Newsroom system makes it easier to discover content relevant to you, and to participate in conversations around issues you are passionate about. Simply hit the explore tab to find a range of topics, which we call “Vibes.” As you select “Vibes” to follow, your newsfeed will adjust to include the stories and conversations that matter most to you. The more “Vibes” you follow and stories you engage with, the more the content will be tailored to your interests.”
You will be able to start a discussion on the Yahoo platform, without it being posted to the greater internet. This will allow people to share legit opinions, without it coming back to haunt them. Yahoo’s personalization technology ensures that people who share your interests will see your posts and be prompted to join the conversation.
