The two sides have just signed a deal with Dalian DKE to bring down the manufacturing costs of e-paper in China.
Dalian DKE has already developed LCD panels and e-paper applications for industrial displays, smart power meters, smart labels and home-automating devices. E Ink will lend the assist with their technical knowledge and help DKE develop e-paper products and DKE will use its STN (super-twisted nematic)-TFT manufacturing equipment to produce segmented e-paper modules which will be more competitive in price than e-paper modules based on active matrix TFT backplanes. DKE will also promote STN-based e-paper modules in place of STN-LCD displays.
