Samsung has unveiled an E Ink display based smart mirror, SmartPhoneMagazine.nl reported. As the website claimed, the device is built around the 32-inch color e-paper TV that the company launched just days back. Samsung had claimed the display to be primarily used for indoor signage or as digital posters. A smart mirror device build around the same display truly makes for an innovative approach, one that makes us wonder what other plans the South Korean giant has in the E Ink realm.
Meanwhile, there is little that we know about the E Ink smart mirror technology. The only image that we have courtesy of the source site does make it seem quite innovative and sci-fi sort of thing. The other aspects of the 32-inch E Ink display that is already known to us is its Spectra 6 panel that allows for high contrast and high-resolution displays.
The other aspect of E Ink displays that makes them suitable for signage solutions is their ultra-low power requirements. Given that it requires power only when the image changes, its overall power requirements are just a fraction of what conventional displays require for their operation. Plus, the heat emitted is also far less compared to LCD or LED. All of this makes it very environment friendly as well.
Unfortunately, there is no other info available as to what such a mirror is going to cost, or when, if ever, it is going to reach markets. More info on the said device is awaited.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
