Aluratek has dropped the price on their Libre Pro e-reader, that normally retailed for $129.99, to $49.99 today. This is in direct response to the low-cost e-readers hitting the market such as the Kindle 4 and Nook Simple Touch Reader.
The Libre Pro features a 5 inch e-paper display and has been on the market since early 2010. This device is quite dated, but does come with a 2 GB SD Card to expand the minimal memory. In order to boost sales and try and get rid of a large amount of stock they have, they are throwing in 10 free eBook downloads (up to a 100 dollar value) from a wonderful selection of Harlequin book titles for only 9.99 with free shipping. Should you buy this if you are looking for a cheap holiday gift? I would say no. It is too outdated and the battery only lasts for 24 hours because it is not true e-ink.
