The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 4 is going to be released this week and the previous generation model is being heavily subsidized. Amazon has discounted the Paperwhite 3 by $40 and it is currently retailing for $79. This deal is only available for a limited time, the exact duration is unknown.
Should you purchase the Kindle Paperwhite 3? This device came out in 2015, so it is a little long in the tooth. I think it would make a good gift for somebody with Christmas right around the corner. I would not recommend it as a primary e-reader, instead the Kindle Paperwhite 4 is a better value because it is waterproof and has Bluetooth to listen to audiobooks from Audible.
