Amazon has announced today that the Kindle Paperwhite WIFI and 3G editions are now available in Canada. Customers can now order the products via the company’s main website and authorized retailers. The 3G edition will sell for $199, while the WIFI version will be available for $139.
When you purchase the Paperwhite in Canada, it comes bundled with both English and French Firmware. In the last few months Amazon recently launched a Canadian ebook store and when you purchase books directly on your Kindle, you will tap into that ecosystem. In the past, if you wanted to buy ebooks in Canada, you had to use the USA version of the store, which limited a significant amount of content.
Many retailers in Canada simply don’t even stock any of Amazon’s products, other than cases and accessories. The Source is the only one that has any kind of inventory, but the company has not updated its website to reflect the new changes. In the meantime, Canadians can still purchase the Kindle Paperwhite from Shop e-Readers.
