Amazon has just unveiled new terms for the Kindle trade-in program that provides a 25% discount when you send them your old Kindle e-reader. If you want to buy the new Kindle Oasis or Voyage, this is worth pursuing.
If you have never heard of the Kindle trade-in program before, here is how it works. Amazon has an entire page that lists every single Kindle e-reader ever made. It asks you a few questions on the condition of the item and gives you a price. You can mail your Kindle to them for free and they will check it out and verify the condition. They will then send you a gift card ID number, which you can redeem for credit on your Amazon account. If you are using this credit towards the purchase of a new Kindle, such as the Oasis or upcoming Paperwhite 4, you will save an extra 25%.
Amazon has been operating their trade-in program for a number of years, but they only ever gave you money back for your old device. This is the first time that they are providing a percentage based savings on their entire modern lineup.
If you have an old Kindle collecting dust you can take a gander at how much they are willing to pay you for it. Once your Kindle trade-in is accepted, you can place a Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Voyage, Kindle Oasis, or Kindle for Kids Bundle in your cart and the bonus 25% savings will be automatically applied at checkout. You have until June 30th to send them your device and the bonus 25% savings will expire on August 31st, 2018.
