Dymocks has officially partnered up with Google Books to provide customers in Australia with a valid source of both free and paid books. The company is providing their own portal for people to buy books with Dymocks.au. Just like print editions you will earn Book Lovers rewards with each digital purchase. They are even introducing gift cards for ebooks as part of the holiday marketing strategy.
Currently Google Books offers around 300,000 digital variants in Australia and Google officially entered the market a few months ago. Since then customers are now allowed to buy books directly from the big G but Dymocks will be building their own portal for brand recognition and in some cases, in-store customer support.
Part of the advantage of Google eBooks is that they are kept on the cloud (Google’s computer servers), which means you can do more than just read your book. You can buy new and out-of-print books, switch from one reading device to another without losing your place and manage your digital book collection on your Dymocks digital bookshelf.
When you purchase a Google Book you can read it on a myriad of devices and they are just not limited to dedicated e-readers. You can read it on any web browser that has Javascript enabled or any smartphone with Android higher then 2.1. Because the books are primarily in EPUB format you can read them on any e-reader sold in Australia but the Kindle. If your reader is compatible with Adobe Digital Editions, you are good to go. Check out the new store on Dymocks today, it is now officially opened.
