Yes you have heard it right. The same company whose tires have become as synonymous with Formula 1 as the screeches and growls of the F1 machines has surprised everyone by offering an e-reader. Such a device from companies like Amazon, Barnes and Noble or Sony is understandable. But to have an e-reader from none other then Bridgestone is sure to raise an eyebrow or two. It’s perhaps the last company from whom you may have expected an e-reader. But as things stand now, it is a fact. And going by initial reports, the device is simply awesome.
Innovation and extreme engineering are perhaps the keywords around which the e-reader has been conceived. Based on Bridgestone’s Quick-response Liquid Powder technology, the e-reader has on offer a bunch of unique features that can put to shame even the best e-book reading device in the industry. What you get to have is a 13.1-inch touch screen e-paper display which will be able to offer you 4,096 colors. That’s it; the e-book reader is equipped with a color screen having the same size as a regular sheet of paper. Its dimensions stand at 10.7 inches in length and a thickness of just 5.8 mm.
And if you thought that’s all that this new e-reader is all about, here is some more. This e-reader can actually be bent without breaking it. The secret is that the e-paper, the touch screen panel and the circuit board are all flexible, which allows you to bend the thing to some extent.
However, not much is known as regards its price or when it is going to be available worldwide. But that it is going to be a path-breaking device has become apparent to us all. So let’s keep our finger crossed and wait for more details to emerge.
And when more information becomes available, you will surely have it here at e-reader blog. In the meantime, be at the e-reader forum for more exciting pieces of news and events from the e-reader community.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
