Borders is the latest to enter the e-book business. Being latest also implies they are late, which in turn means they are up against established players in the segment. Common business sense states they will have do something out of the way to wean away consumers from the other big names in the scene. And Borders have been selling books long enough to not to do that. They are offering five top-selling e-books free of cost to anyone who download the Borders’ apps for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, and Android. The e-books taken together are worth $40. The freebies does not end here as Borders is also offering exclusive content for its readers. Like they are offering a sneak peak of Chapter no. 6 of Danielle Steel’s upcoming novel Legacy, which is slated to enter market on Sept. 28 and is not available anywhere else as of now.
The e-books on offer are:
Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein,
One Shot by Lee Child,
Michael Scott’s The Alchemyst,
Julia Child’s Kitchen Wisdom
Master Your Metabolism by Jillian Michaels
To avail of the free e-books, all that a user will have to do is to register with Borders with an email address and password. The next step is to follow the links provided followed by clicking on the ‘add to library’ link. There is no need for you to even divulge your home address or credit card info.
Its just a few days back that Borders had launched their e-book store and by doing so, it has come up in direct competition with the likes of Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Borders CEO Mike Edwards is all too aware of the fact and that’s the reason for doling out the free e-books along with the Borders apps so that along with the free software for reading books, users also have a nice collection of books to start off right away. The Borders app is compatible with a host of platform which includes e-readers as well as mobile devices like the iPhone, Blackberry and Android phones along with its partner Kobo as well.
This is a limited time offer and is open to anyone who download the Borders App starting from the 9th Jule and through Wednesday July 14th.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
