The Google eBooks paid version that has access to the latest best sellers and most modern content is finally expanding to Canada. Right now to purchase paid content you must be in the USA. Which is good news, because the iRiver Story HD e-reader has just hit the market and taps into the Google Books ecosystem to download content. Of course downside of the new device is that at this point you can only buy paid books and free books if you live in the USA. If you are based outside of the United States you cannot even download free books to the iRiver Story HD! You have to visit the free ebook section on your PC and then download them to your Google Account. Once you do that you can access them with your e-reader, which makes life very complicated. With the move to Canada, the iRiver Story HD will be a relevant buy. We received a tip today from a user that had the following email sent to them.
GOOGLE EBOOKS PARTICIPATION – ACT NOW
As you know, we’re working with our partners toward launching Google eBooks in Canada in the near future. Google eBooks is a paid access product that will enable you to sell digital books through Google Books.
Google eBooks are stored in the cloud, and they can be read online and offline on any compatible device. Users can discover Google eBooks via the Google eBookstore, Google Search, or our online retail partners. We’re really excited to offer this new revenue opportunity to you and to work with you in the growing eBook market. We recommend you act as quickly as possible to ensure that your books will be part of the launch in Canada.
