There is an iReader launch event ongoing at the moment, and a few e-book reading devices have already been unveiled. Here is a brief roundup of the new iReader e-reader devices launched at the event. All the e-reader models can be pre-ordered via JingDong.

2025 iReader Ocean 4 Long Life

The 2025 iReader Ocean 4 long-life version has a 7-inch E Ink Carta 1300 black-and-white display with a 1680 x 1264 resolution. The device continues with the same Kindle Oasis-like design and measures 4mm at its thinnest part. At 179 grams, it is also among the lightest around and can comfortably be operated with one hand.

Apart from the E Ink 1300 display, which offers a high-contrast glare-free screen, the i-Clean instant clear technology at work adds to the viewing experience. This ensures remnants of past displays get eliminated quickly after the display changes. The ComfortLight Pro+ HSOT light scattering polymer light guide plate also uniformly illuminates the display. It offers 30 brightness and color temperature adjustment levels, while the display is also 18 percent brighter than before.

iReader further added that the e-reader comes with a processor that has been customized for operation in an E Ink device. It comes with 1 GB of memory and 64 GB of storage. Power comes from a 2000 mAh battery, which is rated to last around 96 hours on a single charge. There is a built-in speaker and a microphone. It supports 2.4/5.0 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The Type-C port also recharges the battery and allows for wired data exchange. Sensors onboard include a gravity sensor.

It comes in shades of interstellar black and arctic white and is priced at 1399 yuan (US$192).

iReader Light 4C

The iReader Light 4C is another e-reader device launched during the event. The e-reader has a 6-inch Kaleido 3+ color e-paper display with 300 PPI resolution. iReader said the K3+ display is built on the Kaleido 3 and offers markedly better display quality. This has been achieved using a new screen driver chip, a custom Color Mapping algorithm, and iReader’s independently developed i-Colorful 2.0 rendering engine.

The K3+ display offers better display quality and less ghosting. It also has the i-Clean 2.0 instant clear technology, which eliminates the ghosting effect. The Light 4C also boasts a built-in color adjustment mode, which iReader said offers 40 percent better color contrast than previous generation devices. The display benefits from the ComforLight Pro+ HSOT nano light guide plate, which provides uniform screen illumination.

iReader further stated that ultra-thin optical bonding technology has led to a 15 percent improvement in visual clarity. With Ultra-Thin Optical Bonding, the visual distance gets significantly reduced, leading to a clearer and more transparent display.

Additionally, Instant Clear 2.0 uses AI for image recognition, so even minor ghosting effects are detected and eliminated adequately.

The Light 4C otherwise has a quad-core processor with an independent GPU and APU. It has 2 GB of memory onboard and 64 GB of storage. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 2.4GHz / 5.0GHz and Bluetooth 5.0. Power comes from a 1800 mAh battery, which is rated to last 115 hours on a single charge. Other features include a built-in speaker and a Type-C port for recharging the battery and data transmission.

The e-reader measures 148.8 × 109.2 × 7.5 mm in dimensions and weighs 146 grams. It comes in an attractive shade of Jade Green and is priced at 1199 yuan (US$164).

iReader Light 4 Long-life Edition/Turbo

Lastly, iReader announced the Light 4 Long Life and Light 4 Turbo e-reader devices. Both come with a standard set of features, including a 6-inch E Ink Carta 1200 panel with 212 PPI resolution. They also have a ComforLight Pro+ HSOT nano light guide plate, which offers 30-level color temperature adjustment. The i-Clean 2.0 instant clear technology is also at work, which iReader said allows for a 78 percent higher refresh rate than previous generation devices.

Both the e-reader versions come with 1800mAh batteries, which last 113 hours. Both measure 148.8 × 109.2 × 7.5 mm in dimensions and weigh 146 grams. They feature a built-in speaker and support Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 2.4GHz / 5.0GHz wireless connectivity.

The Light 4 Long-life Edition, however, comes with a 1 GB + 32 GB memory and storage configuration, while the same for the Light 4 Turbo stands at 2 GB + 64 GB.

Coming to their price, the Light 4C Long Life version costs 699 yuan (US$96) while the Turbo version will set you back 799 yuan (US$109).

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
