Earlier on in the week Kobo released its new flagship e-reader the Kobo Wireless, which we extensively reviewed. It looks like now Kobo is not settling down with marketing their e-readers! Next week they will be selling both versions of the Kobo e-Reader at 2500 different Walmart locations in Canada.
The Kobo e-reader was first sold at Chapters/Indigo books in North America and was also sold in New Zealand and Australia, as well as online. In a short period of time they have released Android, Apple, Blackberry and other applications to rope users into using their services across many different platforms.
Mike Serbinis CEO of Kobo had this to say about their new partnership with the retail magnet Walmart. ”
The Walmart customer values everyday low prices for quality goods, two principles that we also stand for here at Kobo. The Kobo Wireless eReader will be the opening price in the eReader category, thousands of free books available for download through the Kobo bookstore, today’s bestsellers and 100 free literary masterpieces pre-loaded. Furthermore, the Kobo eReader is easy-to-use and stylized, with our signature quilted back that makes reading comfortable and enjoyable.
We are thrilled to see the Kobo Wireless eReader receiving mass distribution. This partnership further validates our promise and vision of making eReading available to everyone.”
So it looks like the Kobo e-reader will receive more availability for Canadians more then ever before! There is no word yet, if the Kobo will be lower priced at Walmart, or whether or not the price will remain consistent.
