As per the latest e-reader news, Kobo has upgraded their e-reading application to make it iOS 4 compatible. The popular e-reader from Kobo and also the iPod had this application at their base and had gone on to become extremely popular. The present upgrade of the software promises to make things even better for the readers who would now be able to open far more e-books in many more different formats than before. A salient feature of this software is the Kobo optimized formatting along with another unique feature called “I m reading” where one can switch between books quite frequently and fluidly. The application also provides alternate appearances for bookmarks. The application permits for synchronizing between different platforms as well.
The iOS 4 release provides for additional retina display compatibility, which is particularly important for an e-reader app and for reading e-books as it ensures much better text renderings.
Apart from supporting rich text and images, the upgrade package also includes additional features like multitasking that allows users to stay connected while performing other tasks. Then there is support for bookmark syncing across multiple platforms and multiple bookmarks. One would find improved navigation features as well in the upgraded app.
The application is available free of cost on the iTunes App store and works with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. iOS 3.0 is required for the Kobo eBooks 3.2 versions.
The new improved e-reading app from Kobo follows a similar move on part of Amazon who had also pushed through an upgrade for their Kindle app to make it iOS4 compatible and also includes some interesting additions to their e-reading application.
