The Moaan and Bilibili Comics co-branded e-book reader device, the Pantone 7, is here. The device, which boasts a 7-inch Kaleido 3 e-paper display, is going to be available from JingDong where it has been priced at 1539 yuan. That comes to around 215 USD, which makes it competitively priced.
The Pantone 7 is built around a 1.8GHz quad-core RK3566 processor with system-level power consumption optimization technology. It has four gigs of memory onboard and 64 GB of storage. The 7-inch display is backed by 32 levels of warm and cold temperature control features that ensure an optimum reading experience regardless of the ambient lighting condition.
The e-reader’s MOAAN MRD display calibration technology further enhances the visual experience. This technology ensures optimum colour reproduction and rendering and allows for a faster refresh rate with fewer afterimage leftovers. The battery, which is 2300 mAh, supports 42 days of standby time or 8 hours of continuous heavy usage, according to the company.
A nice thing about the Pantone 6 is its asymmetrical build, which was made famous by the Kindle Oasis. So, the thicker right portion measures 8.7 mm but tapers off to be as thin as just 3.2 mm for the rest of the body. The company said they have made the thicker portion a little wider to ensure it’s easier to hold the device.
Needless to say, the thicker portion also hosts the physical page-turn buttons. The metal construction gives the e-reader a strong and rigid body, while the golden shade makes it look quite alluring. The rear, meanwhile, has a leather texture that feels nice to touch and offers a non-slippery surface to hold.
Connectivity options with the Pantone 7 include Wi-Fi 2.4G & 5G and a USB-C port for data transfers and battery recharging. It runs Android 11 and can decipher almost all e-book formats you might need. It measures 159 x 141 x 3.2 – 8.7 mm and weighs 216 grams. A magnetic protective cover comes bundled with the device.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
