Today was a good day for new commercials! Motorola just released one for the Xoom and Amazon promoted their Kindle. The theme of the new Amazon commercial is “the book lives on.” Much akin to the previous Amazon spot where it took a direct stab at Apple, the new one also digs at their rival.
The essence of the new spot by Amazon is to not compromise your love of reading outdoors with glare from the sun. The entire commercial is filmed in direct light in a cafe or outside enjoying life. The song played in the new TV spot is Sweet Talk, Sweet Talk,” by the New Pornographers.
It’s hard to fault Amazon for warning customers not to jump on the tablet bandwagon. If you are buying a tablet exclusively for reading purposes, be warned. They tend to be great indoors and in shade, but fail to live up to e-ink in direct sunlight. We have even conducted many tests to prove such things on our YouTube Channel.
How much is Amazon concerned with the iPad and Apple? Amazon’s Jeff Bezos has stated on many different occasions that the iPad is in a different product category than the Kindle, and aren’t a threat to the company’s flagship product. But if you notice any of their last two commercials its a non-stop attack on the iPad.
