Onyx has been on a rampage in 2015 releasing close to eight different e-readers in China, Europe and Russia. The company does limited releases of a bunch of different models in order to appeal to different price points. The company has just released a very high-end model, the Darwin 2.
This Darwin 2 e-reader features a six inch e-ink Carta screen with a resolution of 1440 x 1080 and 300 PPI. This model has a capacitive touchscreen display and also employs manual page turn buttons, a feature most other companies have abandoned.
Underneath the hood is a 1 GHZ dual-core processor and 512MB RAM. There is 8 GB of internal memory and an option to expand it up to 32 GB via the Micro SD card.
Most of the e-readers that Onyx has released this year run Google Android and this model is no different. It is running 4.2 and even has Google Play loaded on it. It goes without saying that this is a pirated version of Play, which is why its marketed to Russia.
The Darwin 2 is available now for 12,990 rubles, which is the equivalent of $199 US.
