Amazon just unveiled a new trade-in program that gives you a significant discount off a new Kindle. All you need to do is send the company your old one, even if it’s broken and no longer working. Amazon will accept any e-ink model, even if its the 1st generation model from 2007.
If you participate in the Amazon trade-in program you can ship it to Amazon for free and they will pay you a certain amount for the e-reader. The exact amount heavily depends on the condition and how old your device is. For example, you can send them the Kindle Touch and get $26.00 for in working condition, but they will pay you $35 if it doesn’t have any dings.
This promotion ends in March and it normally takes Amazon seven days to evaluate the condition of your e-reader and put the credits in your account. You can check out the status online anytime in Your Trade-in Account.
