Amazon is offering a sale on its first color e-reader, the Kindle Colorsoft. The deal is available to everyone, including Prime Members. It is $229.99 today, $50 off the regular price. The Kindle Colorsoft also comes with a three-month free trial of Kindle Unlimited.
This is the first time Kindle Colorsoft has received a discount from everyone. Last month, they had similar savings but were only for Prime Members; nobody else could capitalize. This discount is only available for residents of the United States, the only market where it is available.
There is another Kindle on sale, too, but there are some caveats. The base model Kindle Paperwhite is $20 cheaper and is available for $134.99. However, only the black color is on sale; the jade and raspberry variants are full price, and so is the Signature Edition model.
Both are good options if you are unsure what to buy. However, I recommend the Colorsoft since Amazon has resolved the yellow bar problem by combining a firmware update with a new production run.
- Read in color – The new 7" Colorsoft display is high-contrast and easy on the eyes, with paper-like color that brings covers and content to life.
- Color your pages – Highlight your favorite scenes in yellow, orange, blue, and pink.
- Marathon reading – A single charge via USB-C lasts up to 8 weeks, or power up with the wireless charging dock (sold separately).
- Our fastest Kindle ever – The next-generation 7“ Paperwhite display has a higher contrast ratio and 25% faster page turns.
- Ready for travel – The ultra-thin design has a larger glare-free screen so pages stay sharp no matter where you are.
- Escape into your books – Your Kindle doesn’t have social media, notifications, or other distracting apps.
