Kobo is now selling refurbished e-readers on their website in Canada and the United States. They currently have two different models available, the recently discontinued Kobo Aura Edition 2 and the Kobo Clara HD. You will save around $29 if you decide to buy them used vs. getting them new.
Kobo used to only sell refurb devices on Amazon and eBay and they still do to a lesser extent, but this is the first time they are selling them directly. There is no mention of a warranty on their site, so it is likely you will receive the default 1 year warranty. If there was a only a 30 day warranty or a 6 month one, they would likely mention it in the product listing.
The Kobo Aura Edition 2 is currently retailing for $109 if you want the e-reader and the sleepcover case, which wakes it up when you open it, the device only is $89.99. Meanwhile the Kobo Clara HD is sold out in Canada, but in the United States it is $89.99 and the regular price for a new one is $119.99.
Kobo is not selling the Forma or the Libra H2O e-readers refurbished on their website, but they likely will sometime in the future.
Amazon, Barnes and Noble and now Kobo all sell refurbished e-readers directly on their websites. If you are looking to save a few dollars, you might want to check them out.
