Rakuten Kobo has just issued a software update for most of their e-readers. It just came out today, and the version number is 4.38.23038. The company has just solved a bug on their store that would crash when using the touchscreen and scrolling around. They also fixed a database bug when users would plug the Kobo into their computer with a USB cable and eject it before a transfer was completed.
Kobo tends to release new updates for the e-readers every couple of months. The last firmware came out a couple of months ago and was available for their latest generation devices: Kobo Clara BW, Kobo Clara Colour and Libra Colour. The 4.38.23038 update that came out today is for all other e-readers.
Typically, Kobo pushes the updates in a staggered release. So, everyone will not receive it simultaneously, but it will sometime over the following week. If you are feeling especially adventurous, there is a Kobo Firmware Download Page where you can download the update for your particular e-reader. Download the file to your computer, then plugin your Kobo via the USB drive. Copy it to the root folder, reboot the Kobo, and it will automatically install.
