A few weeks ago we reported that a internal BestBuy leak had put the Motorola Xoom Android 3.0 Tablet PC in their stores around Feburary 17th 2011. Digitimes is confirming today that manufacturing plants are cranking out a ton of units in time for the early February launch.
Motorola is betting to beat out their competitors that will be launching rival Android 3.0 PC’s later on in March. The company had early access to the entire Google Android 3 .0 source code and SDK, while competitors will be getting their hands on it for the first time this week. Google is staging a massive Android event at their Mountainview facilities to make the worldwide debut.
In the meantime many vendors such as HTC, RIM, Samsung Electronics and LG may need to wait until after March to release their tablet PCs, while PC players such as Acer, Asus, and Toshiba may even delay to after April or May. To maintain their market position, some vendors plan to launch a smattering of Android 2.3-based models to stay in a relevant market position.
