The Skypad Alpha 2 is all set to get the latest version of the Google Android operating system within the next few weeks. This will be a relief for anyone who has purchased one via the Groupon deal for one a few weeks ago.
The SkyPad Alpha 2 is a solid 7 inch tablet featuring a capacitive touchscreen display with 800×480 resolution. The processor is fairly speedy with 1.2 GHZ single core ARM-Cortex A8 and 512 MB of RAM. After spending some time with this device over the course of a few months, I found that it is fairly solid, my only complaint is the shabby speaker quality.
One of the great features on this device is the HDMI out, which allows you to stream 1080P movies right to your TV or Media Center. Don’t forget that with HDMI out, you can not only stream audio/video but also watch Youtube, Crackle, and other apps. Speaking of apps, this is bundled with the 1Mobile Market. I have never heard of 1Mobile Market before reviewing this tablet, but it does have a copious amount of apps.
The Ice Cream Sandwich update will be a warm welcome for anyone who owns the Alpha 2 and will give you a bevy of new features and enhancements. It is due out sometime this month, so stay tuned.
