Samsung has just officially announced one of the largest tablets in the world, the Galaxy View. Who in their right mind will buy this device? It’s like having a small portable television.
The Galaxy View features an 18.4-inch 1080p HD display, with an octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. It’ll also have 2GB of RAM and come in 32GB and 64GB options. LTE connectivity is optional, and there’s a microSD card slot for expandable storage. The front-facing camera is a 2.1-megapixel shooter. It’s running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, with no mention of a possible upgrade to Marshmallow. The battery is measured in at 5700mAh, and Samsung says that means owners can play back video for up to eight hours.
This device is fairly cumbersome, measuring 17.8″ x 10.9″ x weighing 5.8 pounds. Suffice to say, you aren’t going to be holding this with one hand, but Samsung hopes you will bring it out of the home. They developed a carrying handle for this very purpose.
