Well, as of now its iPad all the way in the tablet PC segment. It already has got off to a roaring start before any of its competitors could even open their accounts. And as per recent news, its going to be still sometime before any other Slate PC can come up to challenge the supremacy of the iPad. So those who have opted for the iPad can consider themselves to be lucky in that they will continue to be part of an exclusive group while those who have decided to give the iPad a pass in favor of other devices seems they will have to wait a bit longer. For the Adam from Notion Ink, considered one of the most formidable competitors to the iPad, is plagued by serious issues with its Nividia Tegra 2 chipset. This is also applicable to all other tablet PCs that is based on the Tegra chipset, such as MSI, Asus and others.
So as per new estimates, the Adam will not be hitting market before August 2010. Ultra Tablet PC too is likely to be delayed due to problems arising with the Tegra 2 chipset. This surely is bad news for those who have been waiting for the Adam, touted as one of the most powerful Tablets coming our way.
It’s not only the Tegra 2 chipset that seems to be contributing to the delay as a combination of hardware, software technical problems along with stability and Flash issues too are believed to be at fault. However, its Tegra 2 that seems to be creating most of the problems and Tablet PC manufacturers are waiting for Nividia to remedy the problem.
So a way out? If you can’t wait for the Adam, go for the iPad. Or if you can’t stand the iPad and are looking for something that is Android based, you can still go for the iPad and sell it off when the Tegra 2 based Tablets starts pilfering in stores near you.
Nividia however is in a denial mode and they maintain that they are well on course in shipping to the manufacturers for their scheduled launches. So if Nividia are to be believed, there is no problem with their Tegra 2 chipsets.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
