Well, Diwali is the festival of lights and its also the best shopping season in the country. Purse string are the loosest during this time and various companies are all too aware of that. Like ViewSonic that already has let it known it is targeting the Diwali shopping crowd with its new 7 inch tablet which is likely to be the one it had showcased at the Computex 2011.
However, the one thing that makes the ViewSonic offering that much more special — apart from it running Android Honeycomb of course — is that it will be WiMAX capable, making it the first tablet to be launched in India that can boast of 4G speeds. Needless to say, WiMAX is a 4G technology and offers a much more enhanced internet browsing experience than the prevalent 3G technology. Currently its only state owned BSNL that is offering 4G services on a large scale though a number of operators are all set to join the 4G party soon.
As for the tablet itself, while nothing is known for sure as yet, its the ViewSonic ViewPad 7X that also boasts of 3D capabilities that is most likely to make the cut for the Indian market. The ViewPad 7x is built around a Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core and is coupled to a 1 GB RAM. It comes with 2 and 5 megapixel camera along the front and rear, along with USB and HDMI ports. It has 7 GB of on-board storage while upfront, it has a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels. Viewsonic had then mentioned at the Computex event it will have the 4G version ready by fall, which makes it an even more likely candidate for the Indian launch. However, ViewSonic hasn’t confirmed its the ViewPad 7X that it plans to launch in India.
Instead, all that Ajay Sharma, country manager of Viewsonic India had to say is this: “We will launch a 7 inch Android Honeycomb tablet this Diwali, and this will be our first tablet with WiMax network support. It will be a very important launch for us as the country prepares to usher the 4G era.”
Keep watching though as we keep tracking the developments here.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
