XPPen is best known for its drawing tablets, but it has recently entered a more serious tablet business with devices such as the Magic Drawing Pad. Now, with the Magic Note Pad, it has raised the bar even higher. Unlike Android tablets that dot the tech landscape, the Magic Note Pad can perform a few magic tricks that make it unique in the segment.
What can easily be considered one of the biggest USPs of the device is its ability to switch between three display color modes to offer three different viewing experiences. The three color modes are Natural, which offers a full-color experience; < intense>Light color mode, which provides a display with less color saturation, which is quite similar to what you have with a color e-paper display. Lastly, the Ink Paper mode turns the display black and white, mimicking a monochrome e-paper display.
The tablet also has a regular 10.95-inch LCD with a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and up to 400 nits of brightness. It boasts a 95 percent sRGB gamut and supports 16.7 million colors in full-color mode. The display is nano-etched, which dramatically reduces reflection and glare.
It is not an e-paper display that the tablet comes with, as one might be tempted to believe it is when viewing things in Ink Paper mode. However, the company isn’t revealing all the details related to the display, so we don’t know how it can offer a look and feel precisely like e-paper displays. It isn’t a transflective LCD screen, but as Liliputing speculated, it seems pretty similar to the TCL NXTPAPER display technology.
The Magic Note Pad is accompanied by the X3 Pro Pencil 2 stylus, which offers 16384 levels of pressure sensitivity. The pen features a soft pen nib with a natural writing feel. The stylus is based on electromagnetic resonance technology and does not need to be charged for operation. When not in use, it can be tucked away into the magnetic slot, which can be held securely. The pen has a button that can be used as an eraser or function to perform another task.
The rest of the specs include a MediaTek MG8781 processor, 6 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. It features an 8,000 mAh battery coupled with a 20W charger. Other features include a 13 MP front cam, stereo speakers, and dual microphones. The device offers Wi-Fi 5 connectivity and runs Android 14. It measures 182 x 259 x 7mm and weighs 495 grams. With Google Play Store support, you will never run out of apps on the device.
The Magic Note Pad is priced at $440 but is currently selling for $396 at Amazon as part of an initial launch offer.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
