Good news for fitness freaks who are fond of audiobooks. Wear OS smartwatches are likely to include a standalone Audible app for users. This announcement was made by Samsung in their Unpacked event, where they also discussed their foldable phones, new Galaxy Watch 6 and tablets.
With the Audible app in Wear OS smartwatches, users will be able to access their favorite audiobooks/podcasts while fulfilling their daily fitness targets or typical day-to-day chores. Presently, not many details are disclosed about the integration, however, more information is awaited.
Wear OS has included many useful applications in the smartwatch for users’ feasibility. Recently, Whatsapp was added to the Wear OS so users can check notifications, send/receive responses and make calls from their smartwatch. Besides that, Google themselves announced in their I/O 2023 keynote that they would include the Gmail app and Calendar in their wearables this year. By such means, users will be able to browse through their inboxes or read/respond to emails. Meanwhile, with the Calendars, people will monitor their schedules and complete Google Tasks as required.
Amidst the competitive industry, Google’s Wear OS is now going neck-to-neck with its other competitors. In such a case, it will be interesting to see what more applications/functionalities the company can integrate into their smartwatches for the users.
