The first 13.3-inch color e-paper monitor, the Bigme B13, has officially been launched. The company said the B13 has been developed primarily for the overseas market and is priced at $499. Domestic buyers in China will also be able to buy the B13, though payment must be made in USD. Orders can be placed via the official Bigme store, though curiously, it is already marked ‘Out of stock’ at the Bigme store. The shipping time is marked as the end of May.
The monitor, as is already perceptible, comes with a 3.3-inch color e-paper display with a 3200 x 2400 HD resolution. The display has a 4:3 aspect ratio and offers 150 PPI color and 300 PPI black-and-white pixel density. The other highlight of the display is its 30 FPS refresh rate, which allows for seamless video streaming while animations play out smoothly.
The monitor offers plug-and-play functionality and is compatible with Windows and MacOS PCs and Android or iOS smartphones. Its ports include a pair of Type-C ports and a mini HDMI port. In addition, the monitor supports wireless casting technology, including AirPlay, Miracast, and DLNA, for wireless streaming of media content.
The B13 also comes with integrated speakers and is made of aluminum alloy, allowing for a sturdy build. The monitor also sports an asymmetric design with a thicker bottom portion, ensuring a more stable positioning on a flat surface. Bigme also offers a magnetic and damped stand compatible with 13 – 17-inch laptops. This will allow for the fitment of a pair of monitors, one on either side of the PC or the computer.
The monitor supports same-screen or split-screen functionality. With the same-screen feature, the content of the paired device is reflected on the monitor, while in split-screen mode, the content of the paired device is spread across the monitors. With the latter, the entire set-up serves as one large-screen device, with the content spread across multiple screens. Otherwise, the monitor can be placed in both portrait and landscape modes.
The B13 measures 290 x 233 x 6 mm (at its thinnest point) and weighs 660 grams.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
