Penguin Random House just launched a new website that focuses on science-fiction and fantasy called Unbound Worlds. This site is the spiritual successor of Suvudu, which launched in 2008.
Unbound Worlds offers readers insight into books and authors across and between the science fiction and fantasy worlds, including horror, slipstream, pop science, fairy tales and folklore, magical realism, urban fantasy, and anything that’s just a little bit weird. Expect exclusive essays from new authors, interviews with favorite writers, extended book excerpts, insider looks at the science fiction and fantasy industry, and giveaways – as well as their annual Cage Match and coverage of Comic Con and other events.
“Unbound Worlds welcomes readers of all stripes, from fangirls to sci-fi diehards and those new to the genre,” said Kristin Fritz, the website’s director. “As we evolve and expand Suvudu into this new experience, our hope is that readers find Unbound Worlds the ideal go-to destination for the latest happenings in science fiction and fantasy books and news. Our goal is to create a place where readers can discover books and feel a sense of connection with authors and fellow fans.”
Major publishers are always launching and closing down genre sites and most of them struggle to find an audience.
