The American Booksellers Association is launching their new Celebrate (With) Indies program this year with four main components. The new promotions give ABA member bookstores the opportunity to celebrate the three major buying periods surrounding Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and graduations. The fourth major campaign will target indie authors and put the spotlight on the best books of the year.
Joy Dallanegra-Sanger, senior program officer, BSI, Inc says, “We hope even more booksellers will take advantage of these new specials to offer customers a great array of titles for the very busy spring gift-buying season and beyond. All titles in the Celebrate (With) Indies promotions were chosen by booksellers.”
The ABA will provide extensive marketing materials for stores to promote the sales well in advance. There is no word yet if ebooks will play a role in this promotion and if Kobo will be swayed to get involved. Stores can choose to participate in one, some, or all four of the promotions. Signup opens today and runs through April 4 at BookWeb.org/celebrate.
