The American Bookseller Association has just launched a new program for indie bookstores. Customers now have the ability to pre-order ebooks that are due to be released in the next few months from Kobo.
Pre-ordering is fairly simple. If your favorite indie bookstore sells e-readers or ebooks from Kobo, you merely have to visit the store’s website. Customers can click on the BUY button and then will be directed to a pre-order button on the Kobo site, where they can choose to purchase the book using Quick Buy or the traditional checkout method. The customer’s credit card will not be billed until the pre-ordered book officially goes on sale and is available to the customer. Sometimes when you order things deep in advance, it tends to slip your mind. Patrons will receive an automatic email announcing the title’s arrival will be sent to their account, so they can get reading a hot new title right away.
Downloadable instructions for customers interested in pre-ordering Kobo ebooks are available to booksellers in the Kobo Overview and Customer FAQs section on BookWeb’s Kobo Resources page.
