Amazon wants authors in the United Kingdom to rewrite a classic and they intend on making it worth their while. The winner will receive a £2,000 Amazon gift card, a Fire Tablet and royalties for years to come. All you need to do is put a modern twist on the seminal poem “Twas Night Before Christmas”.
The winner of the Amazon sponsored writing competition will be will be illustrated by Aless Baylis and the e-book will be given away for free on Kindle devices, as well the Kindle reading app for iOS and Android, in a five-day giveaway this Christmas.
Amy Worth, UK Kindle content director at Amazon, said: “The fact that there are so many versions of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ available on the Amazon store is testament to the popularity of the story. We want people to continue to read this tale forevermore, and we believe that by creating a modern day equivalent, we will be able to shine a spotlight on the original and launch the career of an aspiring storyteller.”
