J.K. Rowling completed the last Harry Potter book 13 years ago and she continues to make a ton of money. In 2019 she made £31.5 million from ebook sales alone, that comes to £86,317 per day. Her sales more than doubled last year ahead of the 20th anniversary of the first film.
Pottermore, is the authors website, where ebooks are sold. In 2018 sales of ebooks were £3.4 million and in 2019 she sold £6.9 million worth of digital content. Not only are all the main novels available, but also the spin-offs, which include Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two and the scripts from the Fantastic Beasts films.
The lionshare of sales stemmed from Amazon, where the company pays J.k. Rowling a copious amount of money to sell the Harry Potter ebooks directly and they also include them in Kindle Unlimited. According to Amazon Charts, which is the company’s list of books that people are buying the most. It has 20 books that it lists and in the top position all year long was the first three books of Harry Potter in Canada and there are 7 books total in the top 20. Meanwhile in the United States, the same books are in the top 3 and there are 6 books total in the top 20. The books in Amazon Charts include the Kindle Edition, Audible Edition and Kindle Unlimited.
J.K. Rowling has regularly topped the charts as one of Britain’s highest paid celebrities and is now worth an astonishing £750 million.
