Scribd has changed their business model from offering an unlimited number of e-books to a fixed amount per month. This move allows them to secure more deals with publishers and get more content into their catalog. Today, Scribd announced that they have added more than 6,000 books from leading global publisher, Macmillan Publishers. The additions represent the third time Macmillan has increased its book offering with Scribd in the past year. The books to be added from Macmillan Publishers include notable fiction and nonfiction authors such as Tom Perrotta, Augusten Burroughs, Susan Sontag, and Denis Johnson.
“We are excited to bring thousands of high-quality, award-winning books from Macmillan to our members,” said Trip Adler, co-founder and CEO of Scribd. “At Scribd, we believe great books shouldn’t have a shelf life, and we are proud to drive discovery and reads of a diverse set of titles and provide incremental revenue to our publishing partners.”
