Berlin based Txtr has just signed up four major publishers, fulfilling its ambition to finally make a play for the lucrative North American ebook market. The company has just secured ebook distribution contracts with Hachette, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Wily, and Penguin.
Txtr has quickly become the premier bookstores in Germany and has been securing major contacts with companies like Samsung, Toshiba, T-Mobile, the UK book chain Foyles and bol.com. The investment by 3M into the company has been fast-tracking its growth and it is poised to soon be a juggernaut in the ebook industry. Helping facilitate its growth is Dan Vidra, who has almost twelve years experience working with Simon and Shuster. He will be manning Txtr’s new New York based headquarters to give the company a strong presence in the US.
Many companies do not want to lock customers into the walled gardens of Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Txtr provides a service in which ebooks are compatible with a myriad of platforms and its books are available in over twenty five different languages.
