Wattpad has just inked a deal with Smashwords to promote 127 indie authors and it looks like Wattpad will be promoting the authors on their home page where stories will be frequently surfaced through promotional modules; promotional banners on the official Wattpad Mystery profile, and messages broadcast to the author’s followers. Stories are will also be included in a variety of featured reading lists on both the Wattpad Mystery profile page and the main Wattpad profile.
Smashwords is well known in the publishing community for their crappy books, the vast majority of them have never even been read. The e-books that Smashwords are providing to Wattpad, are the few that actually had modest success. Smashwords will primarily be providing Wattpad with mysteries, thrillers and suspense e-books.
This is the second time Wattpad and Smashwords have collaborated with each other. The first initiative took place last July, when Smashwords contributed 72 Romance and Erotica e-books. It looks like Wattpad was happy with their strategic partnership, because they are doing it again, albeit a completely different genre.
