BENQ has just released a 27 and 24 inch monitor that has an e-paper display mode, which tones down on the blue light and provides a black and white mode. The BenQ GL2780 is a better buy and features a 27 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel TN LCD display with a 75 Hz refresh rate, 250 nits of brightness, and 2 watt stereo speakers and will retail for $180.00. The 24 inch monitor is not listed yet, but should retail for $150.
Depending on these monitors sell, BENQ disclosed to Good e-Reader that they might add this mode to all future monitors. Other eye-friendly features include Low Blue Light, ZeroFlicker and Brightness Intelligence Plus, a mode that uses artificial intelligence feature to adjust the display’s brightness based on your environment.
There are only a few E Ink screens on the market that will give you a proper e-paper experience. This includes all of the models from Dasung and the Onyx Boox MAX2 and MAX2 Pro. All of these devices retail for close to $1,000, so BENQ is providing a cheaper alternative.
