E-Ink Holdings and Dai Nippon Printing Co. have just announced a new joint partnership. They plan on developing of new line of products for sales promotion and security industries.
E-Ink plans on creating a new product display stand that would sit behind a sales counter and stock very specific products. The exact image and color scheme could be changed on the fly and be used for specific promotion. E-Ink would be employing PRISM technology in a live environment. I have it on good authority that this initiative will launch this April.
The other project e-ink is developing is making a tangible product for the DNP mobile wallet service that Dai Nippon has developed. It would allow people to carry around non-contact and NFC-enabled membership cards and point cards. The cards would display the number of points you have and the amount of the balance, such as electronic money cards, tickets and coupons. The great thing about this system is that you don’t need to scan a loyalty card, the points are automatically added via NFC.
