E Ink announced the launch of its new e-paper display, which it said is capable of operating within an even wider range of extreme temperatures. E Ink Marquee, as the technology is named, is based on a 4-particle color system and can operate optimally within the temperature range of -20 and 65 °C. The display can reach sizes as big as 75 inches and requires 5-7 seconds for refreshing.

“The future of E Ink is becoming more colorful with our E Ink Marquee innovation,” said Johnson Lee, CEO, E Ink. “E Ink Marquee will be a cornerstone of our organization and define the future of display technology across industries.”

The 4-color display ensures vibrant colors that are as eye-catching as it is soothing to the eyes. This, along with its large size as well as its ability to operate optimally within an extreme temperature range makes it ideal for outdoor application. Those can be advertisements or a street signage solution. As it is, E Ink displays are already known for their exceptional readability, even in bright sunlight. This makes it perfect for outdoor and digital out-of-home (DOOH) signage deployment.

Another huge positive with E Ink Marquee is its extremely low power requirements. It does not require a complex cooling system either, which is quite unlike traditional displays, which tend to get hot when used for an extended period of time. All of this makes the new E Ink Marquee an extremely power-efficient, versatile, and maintenance-free display solution.

“Building upon our pioneering ePaper foundation established in 1997, E Ink Marquee represents an exciting evolution.” said Edzer Huitema, US CTO, E Ink. “We expect E Ink Marquee to redefine the digital display industry and challenge people’s perception of E Ink and what is possible.”

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
