The Touch Taiwan 2025 event saw the launch of a new E Ink Spectra 6-based smart retail e-paper display solution that is built around the Himax WiseEye ultra-low-power AI smart sensing solution. As the website Blog.EInk reported that the Himax WiseEye allows for context-aware artificial intelligence for human body detection and consumer insight detection. For those who might not be aware already, Himax Technologies specialises in imaging display processing technology.

Among the highlights of Himax WiseEye is the way it uses context-aware artificial intelligence for human body and consumer insight detection. This ensures real-time personalized marketing and cloud-based consumer information analysis that is aimed at precise implementation of the right strategies for increasing sales revenue.

The WiseEye AI smart sensing technology includes a proprietary ultra-low-power AI processor, an always-on CMOS image sensor, and a CNN-based AI algorithm. The latter allows for always-on detection of device-side situational awareness artificial intelligence. All AI inference calculations are performed right on the WiseEye AI chip itself for enhanced security. None of the image data is transmitted externally, which also ensures greater security.

Post AI calculation, metadata of just a few bits gets transmitted to the cloud for further processing. Apart from ensuring higher levels of security, this minimizes transmission delays while also keeping a check on power consumption. The chip finds applications in a wide range of devices, including e-note devices, digital signage, billboards, and so on. Himex had earlier introduced the T2000 e-paper timing control chip, which ensures higher resolution, faster refresh rates, and low latency.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
