The China based Zhejiang Laibao Display Technology Company has initiated plans to set up an advanced e-paper display manufacturing base in the country, E-Ink Info reported. The plant which is coming up in the Huzhou City in Zhejiang province in China will have the capability to produce 180,000 sqm of glass substrate each month. The company further stated it will be producing e-paper displays ranging from 7.8 inches to all the way up to 55 inches, which will let it address a large market segment at once.
The company will also serve as a complete display solution manufacturer as it won’t just be manufacturing the e-paper display. Rather, the production process will also include the manufacture of the backplane and frontplane, along with the reflective color films. Thereafter, the manufacturing process will also involve the encapsulation of the components and module assembly as well as the integration of the touch panel as well. The display that are based on the micro electric-chamber display (MED) technology are based on plasmonic principals, and use micro-chambers to reflect ambient light.
The display also known as ‘plasma display’ is identified to be a part of the microcavity electronic paper display segment. It can hold on to an image with zero power requirement and draws power only when the image gets updated. The full color high contrast and high resolution display with minimal bezels make them fit for a variety of device types, which include e-readers, E Ink tablets, public signage, advertisements, to name a few. The manufacturing center is being built at an investment of 9 billion Yuan which comes to around $1.24 billion USD.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
