Acer is one more company that is expecting a huge demand for its Iconia range of tablets when they are eventually launched in the March April period. In fact, Acer has announced the orders they have received till date is far more than they had expected. So much that they might have to deal with initial supply constraints. Acer is currently grappling with limited supply of many of the key components including the touch sensitive panels. The company though isn’t revealing how many have pledged support for the new Acer tablets, which is much unlike HTC that has already gone on record with claims of having notched up orders of about a million of its Flyer tablets.
As for the tablets on offer, Acer has said it would start offering Iconia W500 – a 10 inch Windows 7 tablet from the middle of this month. This will be followed by the Iconia A500, another 10 inch tablet based on Android 3.0 and powered a Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. The A500 will go on sale towards the end of this month. In April, Acer will come up with two more tablets – the 7 inch Iconia A100 and the 4.8 inch Iconia Smart tablet. However, all the tablets to be initially offered will be the Wi-Fi only version though the 3G versions will be introduced shortly later.
