Amazon Kindle PaperWhite VS. Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight

October 21, 2012 By Michael Kozlowski 10 Comments

Welcome back to another beloved installment of the Good e-Reader Video Comparison Series! Today we are looking at the e-Reader that started the entire glowing e-ink revolution, the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight. Juxtaposing this is the latest Amazon Kindle PaperWhite, which expands on the technology.

In this video we document the hardware and software elements that make both of these devices unique. The Kindle Paperwhite has a faster processor and more RAM then their counterparts. It also really refines the glowlight feature and makes light emit from the bottom of it, where the Nook does it from the top. Many people wonder how reading in complete darkness performs. My friends, we GIVE this to you in spades! We compare EPUB and PDF documents and show you all the features to augment your reading experience. Finally, we outline our thoughts and opinions on the Paperwhite and Nook Glow.

Nice display, glad I have the PW on order. I also prefer the Kindle store with all the info you guys didn’t like. I want to know how many pages, what other books are in the series if a series, which I like to read.   Also you talked about the storage, that the Nook has a card to put in to hold more. The PW does not but you get 5 GB of Cloud on Amazon that stores  your books forever off your Kindle, which I really like.

wow, thank you for that, what a great watch, my boyfriend has just brought me the nook glo light for xmas, then he told me about the kindle paperwhite, im very tempted to take the nook back, BUT, i think i still like the nook, i like to have a home button and i also like that you can change the page with the side buttons on the nook.. the reason i went for the nook was for the light, this will be my first e read so i think i will be pretty impressed with either 1. thank you so much for the vidoe, very helpful xx

    Hi..
A very informative and succinct comparison of the Nook & Kindle….I have used a kindle before but had to trash it coz the screen got spoilt, another issue was the space…if you have lots of old PDF`s, as well as an ever increasing library of ebooks then you would want the storage space. After having used the Kindle, and getting irritated with its propriety formats, i may make a change for the Nook, i only wish that it was a bright as the Kindle !

Fantastic and best side by side comparison I’ve seen. Very informative and definitely helps me to make my purchase decision. Thank you very much!

Hello Everybody. I will buy e-reader and usually use for read magazines(pdf with image) and want to surf browser must fast. I heared screen refresh speed nook is better! Is this Right?

  • Donna Dubert

If you are getting the reader for magazine images and video content in the magazine you want the Kindle Fire. I use my Fire for that a lot. The reader I use just for reading, it being more lightweight and easier on the eyes.

Smart Tablet devicea like Kindle Fire hungry for ram, processor, battery life.
    I don’t want everyday Charge because;
Writing on the net tabley devices max using 10hours,wifi off mode and when turn wifi ON battery life will: maximum 5hours (this is my idea)

E-book readers usually have 30 hours life wifi OFF and thia is 1 hour using in a day=4weeks
When wifi will turn ON must work 2week or 12-15hours!

  • Donna Dubert

Ok all I am saying is if you ate getting it to read a magazine you won’t have color and not sure you can even read a magazine on the reader. You would like it better on the Fire where you get color and the sound and video that magazines offer. Kindle Papetwhite has no color and no sound

  • Donna Dubert

The Kindle Paperwhite is the best reader out there. Period. The Kindle Fire is excellent for a tablet and apps. If you are comparing the Nook to the Fire I will just say that Amazon customer service is the very best, period. Their store for e-books is excellent. For those reasons alone I would choose Kindle every time.
