Amazon is following suit to its highly successful Android program where it offers 1 free all a day or a discount. This has extended into their eBook business with the company offering 1 heavily discounted book each day.
Amazon Daily Deals is a new program that offers a specialty discounted price all day long for a book of the company’s choosing. Each day at around 12 AM a new deal will be available. They will also take advantage of various social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to let you know what books are available and what kind of savings you will enjoy.
The first book that is available under this new program is called The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate Diamillo. There is a huge reduction of price with this book at 75% savings.
This new program can be a boon for authors to get some exposure. Many writers wrestle with the decision on how to price their book and some feel lost in the shuffle. There is no indication yet on how Amazon selects the books they will promote under their new Daily Deals program or if they even consult with the author about this.
