Research in Motion, the company behind the Blackberry Line of Smartphones will be releasing their much anticipated Blackberry Playbook Tablet in the 1st quarter of 2011 for $500.00
The price today was revealed in Seoul, South Korea by RIM CEO Jim Balsillie in an interview, he also mentioned it will globally ship by the second quarter of 2011.
RIM is one of the few big companies to get into the tablet computer race, alongside Apple and Samsung. Currently the market is dominated by Apple and their iPad tablet.
Serious competition is waiting in the wings via Google Android operating system championed by the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Blackberry Playbook and their QNX operating system.
Blackberry is trying to differentiate themselves from Apple, by touting their abilities to play to be friendly with Adobe Air, Adobe Flash and other mainstay internet programming. Currently the Apple iPad does not play Flash at all.
