When we were at Computex this year in Taipei we got our first look at the Delta Vikitek 8.2 inch color e-reader, and it looked great! It seems according to the Taipei Times that it will be launching December 2010 via China Mobile.
When we were in Taipei this e-reader first made waves featuring a 13.1 color display and was made by Delta Electronics. It now sports a 8.2-inch reader using Bridgestone technology and will come in colored panel instead of the monochrome models that are now available. It will bundle with features such as 3G and Wi-Fi.
China Mobile, whom is the world’s largest mobile operator in terms of subscribers, will offer a discount on price to offer subscribers to take advantage of the 3G Data Connection. “There are some bugs still to be ironed out for the product to make it on time for the December launch,” a source said. “Delta is very aggressive with the e-reader segment, because it has the capability to control the whole manufacturing process, from e–paper and components to the end products. The e-paper could be applied to a wider range of products and e-readers are only one example,” the source added.
Although we know this product will be out in December, we do not know the price, or ebook formats it will read. No word yet on the content distribution model as well.
