Amazon reported record sales of the new Kindle while Barnes & Noble upped the ante by coming up with a whole new e-reader named Nook Color. Lest it boils down to a battle of survival, Borders has chosen the most sensible option under the circumstances – slashing prices across the entire range of e-readers, which includes the Kobo e-reader, the Aluratek Libre and the Velocity Micro Cruz Reader.
Borders is offering a $30 waiver on the price of all the three e-readers which will be in effect until November 15th. That’s not all, however, for there is more bonuses to be picked up, including free shipping on e-reader orders placed online, gift cards worth $25, free e-books, 20 percent off on device accessories, and so on.
So what all of this maths boils down to is that both the Alurtek Libre and the Kobo eReader will now retail for $99.99. Also, each Kobo Wireless e-reader will now be accompanied with five free e-books at its usual price of $140. Likewise, purchase of each Sony e-reader will fetch you a free e-reader case with built-in light. This is in addition to the 20 percent rebate that is now being offered on the purchase of any e-reader accessories that you opt to buy along with the e-reader device itself.
As for the recently launched Velocity Micro Cruz Tablet, it will now require $169.99 to buy one of these which is 30 percent less than the usual $299.99 price tag. There is also a $25 Borders gift card that accompanies each Wi-Fi Velocity Micro Cruz Reader that you buy.
Slashing prices has always been an easy method to bring in traffic and drive sales and this is not the first time Borders has resorted to this method in its efforts to remain competitive against the big guns like Barnes & Nobles, Amazon and the like. The timing is perfect as well, what with the holiday season just around the corner. In fact, there are more such deals in the offing as Christmas draws closer.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
