One of the greatest things about digital publishing is the instant access to content that would have otherwise taken a year or more to find its way to market. With simple to use formatting and uploading for indie authors to any number of ebook distribution platforms, the ability to discover great new reading material has never been easier.
This week’s GoodEReader Ebook of the Week was published only yesterday to Smashwords’ ebook catalog, making it the newest content this site has ever featured. Family Thang, published by author James Henderson, takes a humorous look at an African-American family’s tribulations when the family patriarch is poisoned.
“A fractured family’s dirty laundry is aired, soiled, stained, muddied, fumigated and declared a health hazard when their patriarch succumbs to undercooked neck bones laced with arsenic,” says Henderson on his author page about this comedy.
Henderson has a unique stance on his role as an indie author, complete with his own publishing imprint, Broke-Tooth Dog Press.
“There is a thin line between pursuing a dream and entertaining a fantasy. Keep in mind there is a large number of talented people hoping and praying for an extension of their unemployment benefits. In any field, success is a confluence of luck, talent, hard work, and determination,” says Henderson via his blog.
Henderson is also the author of Baby Huey: A Cautionary Tale of Addiction, available through his website. His newest release is available HERE.
